Responsible Sourcing

Timio 24K has a firm commitment to sourcing raw materials from wholesalers that have strong, ethical sourcing policies in addition to certifications and vetting processes to support their policies. We offer our customers great prices on our investment jewelry® products while also doing what we can to ensure that those mining and milling those materials are responsible, vetted, and conflict-free.

 

While we could try to simplify the information to make it a quick read, we believe this information is too important to cut short. Where We Get Our Raw Materials

We craft all our pieces from raw materials (grain, sheets, and wire) that we order from either Hoover & Strong or Rio Grande. Both companies are wholesale jewelry suppliers with firm dedications to ethically sourced and conflict-free precious metals. Let’s dive into what these two wholesalers say they aim for and how they fulfill those claims.

 

Hoover & Strong is SCS Global Services certified and proudly posts their SCS certificate on their website. Hoover & Strong offers three sourcing options, the below is quoted from their Metal Purchases Policy.

Hoover & Strong purchases fine metals and karated products from a list of qualified refiners and vendors. These are as follows:

For Harmony Metals:

For Harmony metals, only 100% recycled precious metals are used and only from suppliers who are preferably either RJC or SCS Responsible Source certified, or who submit an annual declaration stating that 100% recycled materials only are sent to Hoover & Strong.

For Non-Harmony Metals:

Non-Harmony metals are sourced from suppliers who are preferably either RJC or SCS Responsible Source certified, or who submit an annual declaration stating that they are a responsible source.

 

For ASM Metals:

ASM gold and silver are only sourced from Fairtrade or Fairmined certified mines. The exception to this is fine gold and silver sourced from our DRC partners who operate under the USAID and IMPACT programs and are members of the Consensas risk, due diligence and traceability platform.

Rio Grande is independently audited by UL Responsible Sourcing and received certification from the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC). Rio Grande’s Values & Stewardship statement outlines the below:

Ethical Metals

Ethical sourcing is an integral guiding principle for our business.

All of the gold we handle is sourced from refiners on the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) list. What does this mean?

    • The refiners are in good legal standing
    • They certify and independently audit that all supplies are traceable and conflict-free

LBMA standards do not provide traceability to the originating mine.
